[edit] Image

I think we need an explanatory image for streambuf. How about something in the direction of this draft:

From what I see, first of all, I obviously need to make it bigger. Second, locale isn't participating (underflow() and overflow() have to go through the locale's codecvt). Third, I'm trying to demonstrate the most general case, while in practice, the picture isusually simpler. --Cubbi 07:22, 26 January 2012 (PST)

I think it would be great. When you finish, could you also upload a .svg version of the image, so that it could be converted to different resolutions if needed? P12 09:17, 26 January 2012 (PST)
GIMP doesn't make .svg's. I'll figure out how to make them. --Cubbi 12:49, 26 January 2012 (PST)
You could use Inkscape. Or maybe just upload the picture in higher resolution, I could later convert it by hand if needed. P12 03:31, 28 January 2012 (PST)
Already got Inkscape, but had no time to do it yet. --Cubbi 15:30, 28 January 2012 (PST)
Note that `streambuf` is parameterized on a `char_traits` as well. I think the illustration would be clearer if you wrote `class basic_streambuf` to show that the contents of the braces represent private members. Although it's not entirely correct, you might add the label `getloc()` to the arrow attached to `locale;`. Potatoswatter 21:38, 28 January 2012 (PST)

Current version of picture has misprint - it's sputbackc, not sputback Ruslo 04:32, 12 July 2013 (PDT)

Thanks, fixed. --Nate 15:58, 12 July 2013 (PDT)
