Template talk:cpp/language/navbar content

From cppreference.com

1. The Utilities section on the actual page http://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/language has 3 subtitles. Should those be reflected in the sidebar content as well? (Since the Types section has subtitles I will add them here)

2. The font for sub-headings (h2) is hardly distinguishable from top level headings (h1).

3. The Casts subsection item and page "implicit_casts" has the link text "Standard Conversions". That's fine with me but is that ubiquitously synonymous for all of the intended audience? Arbalest 07:07, 17 February 2012 (PST)

1. Yes, sure. The only problem with additional subtitles is that the sidebar is very long already, and subtitles potentially waste space. But let's keep them, there should be another way to solve this issue.
2. I've fixed that.
The change in font helps but I suggest also changing the alignment to either a) all centered b)all left justified or c) increasingly right-indented at each level (currently sub levels are to the left to its parent level) Arbalest 07:18, 17 February 2012 (PST)
In my opinion none of these alignments would be better than the current alignment. All centered is hard to read, because if headings have different length, they begin at different location. All left justified doesn't emphasize the grouping enough. Increasingly right indented looks better, but it has the issue in that it widens the sidebar. The width of sidebar is already a problem in a lot of pages. I don't think that this alignment, being similar to the current one, offers enough stylistic advantage to outweigh the width issue. The current alignment is also consistent with the alignment of headings in the article body (try e.g. ===h3=== ====h4==== =====h5=====), so it's another reason to keep it. 3. Which one would you prefer? I've heard all three used frequently: "standard conversions", "implicit conversions", "implicit casts". I'd vote for the second though.
"implicit conversions" is fine with me (change made). Arbalest 07:07, 17 February 2012 (PST)
BTW, could you sign your posts with ~~~~. It's easier to keep track of the discussion then. P12 01:51, 17 February 2012 (PST)

[edit] Chaotic navbar

As I attempted to add some important new features to this navbar such as concepts and coroutines, I find it impossible. It is tough to distinguish and understand because it classified chaotically. Shall we rearrange the entire navbar to clarify and modernize it? Yaossg (talk) 19:18, 7 July 2022 (PDT)

I suggest just simply following c/language's navbar, which is lite and clear. I will create a draft in my user page soon.Yaossg (talk) 18:53, 8 July 2022 (PDT)
